I'm back!

If you know where this came from please let me know so I can link to them :0)

Yeah baby, 2016 sucked! Well, mostly. I did manage to change jobs (and go back to school) which was awesome but I was so busy in 2016 that the last time I got to write was in January! I have only posted 3 (now 4) times this year. I didn't even take my kayak out this year! Yep, it was a bad year.

2017 will be better. I miss my blog, I miss my witchy community, I miss writing! So I made some serious changes for 2017. I now have a couple of hours a month blocked out on my calendar just for blog stuff! I have also limited the things I am participating in to just those I am passionate about: my family and friends, my sculpting, my witchyness and my blog. Sounds like a well rounded life to me.

I hope you all had a beautiful solstice. I got to spend it with my family. I am not a huge fan of winter but I do love that the days are finally getting longer and we have turned the corner towards spring. I will admit that snuggling with my guy in front of the fire is pretty awesome but I really would rather be sitting on a beach drinking wine... Just Saying!

I am in the process of cleaning (mucking out) the studio and my potions cabinet. I am going to start the new year with my traditional Witchy Green Cleaning series. I have been using these easy to make cleaning products for several years now and they work! Not only do they work great for their specified cleaning purposes, you can make them with specific intents so they can be tailored to suit your cleaning and magical needs.

I'm happy to be writing again and look forward to seeing everyone!

Cheers!

The Wolf Moon

The Wolf Moon will be here on Saturday, January 23, 2016.

I love when the moon is full any time of year but during the cold winter months I like to sit by our fire pit with a roaring fire. The crisp winter air, the warmth of the fire and the bright light of the full moon make for a powerful evening.

The January moon is referred to as the Wolf moon or the Cold moon. It is a great time to focus on spells for protection, both physical and spiritual as well as personal problems.

This year I am going to take advantage of the Wolf (or Cold) moon and focus on what I want to accomplish this year as well as what I want to let go of and also on protecting myself, my family, and my home.  It never hurts to start off the year with safe guarding those you love.

Here are the Wolf Moon Correspondences:
  • Colors: Black, White, Silver, Blue-violet
  • Gemstones: Hematite, Jet, Onyx, Lead, Garnet, Chrysoprase
  • Trees: Birch, Hazel
  • Gods: Inanna, Freyja, Baby Yaga, Hera, Sarasvati, Ch’ang-I, Sinn
  • Herbs: Thistle, nuts and seeds, marjoram, snowdrop, crocus
  • Element: Air
  • Oils & Incense: Mimosa, Musk
  • Animals: Bear, Fox, Coyote
  • Nature Spirits: Gnomes, Brownies

On Using Spells You've Found Online - A Pagan Blog Prompt Post

I’ve decided to take a cue from Pagan Blog Prompts/Luna Sage for some posts this year. The first one I chose was on using spells you’ve found online (Click the image above to be taken to the original post).

I love this topic because I love spells. I have been known to search for a spell to suit my needs but once I find one I always tweak it to suit me and my unique situation.

A spell is so much more powerful when it is personal. Without that personal connection I don’t believe that things work quite so well and if you don’t know the person who created the spell you really don’t know too much about it other than what they tell you.

I like to use spells that I find online as a jumping off point.  I prefer to research correspondences, moon and astrological phases and everything else I can to make sure that my spells suit my intended outcome. A spell is only as good as the work you put into it yourself –at least that is my opinion.

So I see no problem in using spells that you find just use them with caution, research their components to make sure they are for the intention stated and then tweak it so that it is meaningful to you.
